Shout out to Al Jazeera straight up showing a video of their reporters getting tear gassed during a live interview of the Ferguson police chief denying that they are tear gassing journalists.

I just realized that the lack of acceptance for asexuals is literally the dumbest thing.
Like, you can’t handle the thought of two dudes kissing? Okay you’re dumb and terrible whatever.
But you can’t handle the idea… Of someone… Not kissing anyone? What are you worried about? They’re gonna eat too much mac n cheese?? Draw too many dinosaurs??? Tell me

What if mermaids live really long - and the longer they live, the bigger they grow?

(I guess the bigger they grow, the harder it is for them to stick their torso and even their head out of the water. That’s why no one ever sees the big ones. And definitely never the huge ones.)

A bit late to the party, but here’s my contribution to Julie Dillon’s Catalog of Merfolk. I didn’t have nearly as much time to finish this as I wanted, but I have to be up in 5 hours so this will have to do!

This is an awesome idea!

endless list of favorite characters → katniss everdeen, the hunger games

The bird, the pin, the song, the berries, the watch, the cracker, the dress that burst into flames. I am the mockingjay. The one that survived despite the Capitol’s plans. The symbol of the rebellion.

But that ain’t Jennifer Lawrence? Looks more like Keisha Castle-Hughes.

It’s Q’orianka Kilcher, and I used her as a dreamcast because I always read Katniss as PoC. Jennifer Lawrence is a fine actress, but she’s not at all an accurate representation of the Katniss in my head.

#sometimes i think the casting call was for a white girl because a woman of color raising up an army #and becoming the symbol of the revolution would be too close to social commentary they considered too radical #because we can rage against the patriarchy only if it’s in the future #and we can rage against racism only if it’s in the past #but we can’t rage against both #because that is too close to threatening the status quo of the present (via dealanexmachina)

Painting a more accurate version of history, one reblog at a time.
When I posted this archival image of a “real life Rosie the Riveter” one year ago, I had no idea it would resonate with so many people. 19K and counting.

#TBT to last year’s production of The Tempest when we filled the entire stage with four inches of water.

HA!  I was the SM and my spectacular husband was the costume mistress  wardrobe supervisor who waterproofed those suckers and fixed all the things.
Also cleaning that stage was a BEAST.

It was still totally worth it though.  That show was effing awesome.

My bad on not using gender neutral terms! Congrats on your kickass production!

To be honest, I find Tony Abbott confronting and think he should be banned from entering government buildings

In light of the recent rise in racist attacks on Muslims (particularly Muslim women) in Australia since the new Terror laws were created and the killing of Abdul Numan Haider, I would just like the make one thing very, very clear.

Australia is using (forms of) terror…

shakethecobwebs:

i really need people to stop talking about mras only in terms of fedoras/being bronys/how unkempt they are, etc. because there are dudes out here looking like hollister models who need to be held just as accountable for their creepy/misogynistic behavior

and don’t get me…

paintbox-princess:

Tony Abbott finds Burqas ‘intimidating’ and ‘scary’ but he doesn’t care because “it’s a free country”.

Good. I hope they intimidate you, you lizard hybrid.

Author John Scalzi was on a roll this morning (currently 7:14 AM, 26 Sept. 2014) with a tweet he found from some guy sending out an “ultimatum” to women to “make a choice” between feminism and, well, men like him. So Scalzi launched into a truly magnificent set of scorchers, which I’m posting here for the delectation of people everywhere.

Also: I would like to thank that guy for setting the ultimatum. It makes finding a boyfriend so much easier when the undesirable ones wear a placard identifying themselves.

"The tragedy of that poor boy’s life is not the realization that he’s not the grand prize he’s assumed, but that he’s not even second place."
